Be at the Javett-UP Art Centre Launch on Heritage Day, 24 September for the most beautiful celebration in town!

The newly constructed Javett-UP Art Centre is at last opening its doors to the public. Art brings people together! It’s Our Africa and Our Art.

Market @ the Sheds will be collaborating with Javett-UP on 24 September to create a day filled with exceptional art, great food, designer products, live entertainment and an infectious, colourful vibe – celebrating art in Africa in all its forms.

101 Masterpieces have been brought to Javett-UP from collections across South Africa for the opening, including works by Stern, Preller, Sibande, Patra-Ruga, Mntambo, Sekoto, Alexander, Battiss, Pierneef, Kentridge and more.

Look forward to four ground-breaking exhibitions: a collection of 101 signature works of South African art selected from collections around the country; the Javett Family Collection of South African modern art, an exhibition of significant gold pieces from the Mapungubwe collection and a selection of quirky objects from the university museums.
